Nikon 1 AW1 Firmware Update – The Nikon 1 AW1 is a compact, frozen, dust and shock-resistant water system camera featuring a “CX ” 14.2-megapixel format sensor and a Nikon 1 lens installation. Offers a 15fps with continuous autofocus and 60fps autofocus with fixed-point autofocus, Full 1080p HD video capture, ultra-fast hybrid autofocus systems, unique Moment Capture, and Motion Snapshot Mode, Nikon AW1 also offers more conventional shooting modes such as auto programmable, shutter and viewfinder prioritization, as well as measuring Manual. Also, there is a 3-inch high-resolution LCD screen with 921k point, electronic and mechanical shutter, and built-in pop-up blitz.
Nikon 1 AW1 Design and Features
The Nikon 1 AW1 is available in black, white, or silver with a zoom kit in matching colors (although the white one has a silver zoom ring). The lens mount has a gray O-ring, and the lens flange extends above and around the circle when fitted, providing a waterproof seal. Nikon recommends to replace the seal every year, yes, it is every year. There is a second fixed seal on the front of the lens with a regular glass cover on the front.
The AW1 controls are relatively large and well located, especially on the top panel where the shutter release, the Record movie button, and the on/off switch are all much larger than you would generally find even on a DSLR. On the back panel, a conventional control layout with a four-way controller is enclosed in a disc flanked by menus and a playback button at the top with buttons for overlay displays and delete them below.
AW1 has an internal flash that appears when the button behind it on the back panel is pressed. The Flash has a guide number 6.2 in meters at 160 ISO, which means that it has a maximum range with a kit lens set to a full-width angle just under 2 meters, which is pretty average. The Flash has a red-eye reduction mode, flash-fill, and rear-curtain synchronization and can be used underwater, though you must be careful to keep the current from pushing it backward and upwards away from your subject.
Nikon 1 AW1 Performance
AW1 performance is excellent when used with an 11-27.5 mm kit lens, and it would be a ‘ consistency ‘ – which is precisely what you want if it slides down the ski slope while releasing the image bursts, or avoiding Picture sharks in depth while trying to persuade crabs out of the crack. Forget about dust, freezing, falling, and waterproof, and this is a cracked camera and still a bit.
Maintain sharpness well throughout the frame and provide the pockets of detail as well, yes there are familiar bugbears like the purple pixels that crawl into the branches where trees meet the sky, but in fact, this is not a problem. The color as the default setting is a little warmer on this camera than we saw on the previous generation of Nikon CSC, which is generally a good thing. Even digital filters, such as miniature and soft-focus, produce exciting results, so it is not considered a mere deception.

How to Updating the Camera Firmware

Create a new folder on your computer.
- Download the Nikon 1 AW1 Firmware (F-AW1-V111W.exe / F-AW1-V111W.dmg) to the folder created in Step 1.
- Extract the Firmware file (F-AW1-V111W.exe / F-AW1-V111W.dmg) containing “AW1_0111.bin” (camera firmware) to a folder called “AW1Update“.
- Copy the file “AW1_0111.bin” to the memory card that has been formatted in the Nikon 1 AW1 camera.
- Insert the memory card into the main slot on the Nikon 1 AW1 and turn on the camera.
- Select the Firmware version in “SETUP MENU” and follow the instructions displayed on the Nikon 1 AW1 camera screen to complete the firmware update.
- Turn off Nikon 1 AW1 camera and remove the memory card after the firmware update process is complete.
