Nikon 1 J1 Firmware Update – J1 is an entry-level camera. At the same time, V1 contains several additional features such as the electronic viewfinder (EVF), a higher point composition LCD Monitor, and an I-TTL sensor that can accommodate an optional external flash unit. The J1 camera looks very similar to V1, which is distinguished by the hump at the top of the EVF body and the small ridge on the front right to provide a better grip. Nikon 1 J1 Design and Features
The Nikon 1 J1 metal body is rectangular, rounded at each end with a small radius curve across the body edge of J1. The front and top of the camera are quite simple and not cluttered, with a body-colored panel for the pop-up lights and a power-off button along with a silver shutter and a select movie capture button at the top. The front of the body has a dual microphone, focus auxiliary light, infrared receiver and lens release switch as its main structure
The rear camera can easily pass for a compact digital typical in design and layout, with a 3.0-inch monitor taking up most of the space. The Flash Deployment button above the rear left side of the camera body above the monitor. The J1 body and accompanying lens appear sturdy and well done.
The index finger ends naturally to the shutter button when the camera is taken. The thumb of the shot covers the rotation controller and the four lower buttons on the back of the camera, but accidental control activation is rare. When photographing a camera with two hands, make sure to keep the index finger left over the camera’s body rather than letting it wrap the front part where it is a good candidate for blurring the focus aid light. Nikon makes the camera grip GR-N2000 for J1 as an accessory.
Nikon 1 J1 Performance

How to Updating the Camera Firmware

Create a new folder on your computer.
- Download the Nikon 1 J1 Firmware (F-J1-V140W.exe / F-J1-V140W.dmg) to the folder created in Step 1.
- Extract the Firmware file (F-J1-V140W.exe / F-J1-V140W.dmg) containing “J1_0140.bin” (camera firmware) to a folder called “J1Update“.
- Copy the file “J1_0140.bin” to the memory card that has been formatted in the Nikon 1 J1 camera.
- Insert the memory card into the main slot on the Nikon 1 J1 and turn on the camera.
- Select the Firmware version in “SETUP MENU” and follow the instructions displayed on the Nikon 1 J1 camera screen to complete the firmware update.
- Turn off Nikon 1 J1 camera and remove the memory card after the firmware update process is complete.
