The Mode dial is the clearest indicator of the split V3 personality. Besides the fan-oriented PASM options, there are settings for Full Auto, creative filters, advanced movie mode, Motion Snapshot, and best moment capture. This is not the usual ‘ scene mode ‘ (Sports, portraits, nights, etc.) Which is usually found on beginner-level DSLRs. It must be fun to have at least one special mode.

Check the camera firmware version.

• Turn on the Nikon 1 V3 camera.
• Press the Nikon 1 V3 camera MENU button and select the Firmware Version in the SETUP MENU to display the Nikon 1 V3 Camera Firmware Version.
• Check the Nikon 1 V3 Camera Firmware Version.
• Turn off the Nikon 1 V3 camera.

How to Updating the Camera Firmware

1. Create a new folder on your computer.

2. Download the Nikon 1 V3 Firmware (F-V3-V112W.exe / F-V3-V112W.dmg) to the folder created in Step 1.
3. Extract the Firmware file (F-V3-V112W.exe / F-V3-V112W.dmg) containing “V3__0112.bin” (camera firmware) to a folder called “V3Update“.
4. Copy the file “V3__0112.bin” to the memory card that has been formatted in the Nikon 1 V3 camera.
5. Insert the memory card into the main slot on the Nikon 1 V3 and turn on the camera.
6. Select the Firmware version in “SETUP MENU” and follow the instructions displayed on the Nikon 1 V3 camera screen to complete the firmware update.
7. Turn off Nikon 1 V3 camera and remove the memory card after the firmware update process is complete.

8. Confirm that the Nikon 1 V3 camera firmware has been updated to the new version
