The Nikon Coolpix B500 has large handrails with an excellent rubber grip that has a very strong textured pattern. it is very easy to hold the camera well, helping you keep its stability. There’s no electronic viewfinder, so you’ll need to use your back screen to compose and frame your photos, but luckily the tilt screen helps when using the camera outdoors.
The Nikon Coolpix B500 features a 40x optical zoom lens, a zoom from a wide-angle of 22 mm to 900mm in 35mm-equivalent terms, with built-in vibration reduction (VR) optical image stabilization to keep images sharp when shooting in low light or when using optical zoom. There is a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, and the camera has a number of modes to choose from from the mode dial, including automatic mode, scene mode, and creative effect mode. The camera does not display manual controls but allows you to change a number of settings including ISO and white balance.

- Press the Nikon COOLPIX B500 camera MENU button and select the Firmware Version in the SETUP MENU to display the Nikon COOLPIX B500 Camera Firmware Version.
- Check the Nikon COOLPIX B500 Camera Firmware Version.
- Turn off the Nikon COOLPIX B500 camera.
How to Updating the Camera Firmware

Create a new folder on your computer.
- Download the Nikon COOLPIX B500 Firmware (F-B500-V15W.exe / F-B500-V15W.dmg) to the folder created in Step 1.
- Extract the Firmware file (F-B500-V15W.exe / F-B500-V15W.dmg) containing “firmware.bin” (camera firmware) to a folder called “B500Update“.
- Copy the file “firmware.bin” to the memory card that has been formatted in the Nikon COOLPIX B500.
- Insert the memory card into the main slot on the Nikon COOLPIX B500and turn on the camera.
- Select the Firmware version in “SETUP MENU” and follow the instructions displayed on the Nikon COOLPIX B500 camera screen to complete the firmware update.
- Turn off Nikon COOLPIX B500 camera and remove the memory card after the firmware update process is complete.
