Nikon COOLPIX P520 Firmware Update

Nikon COOLPIX P520 Compact Digital Camera

Nikon COOLPIX P520 Firmware Update – The Nikon Coolpix P520 is a new super-zoom pocket camera with a mechanically stabilized 42x optical zoom that offers a large focal range of 24-1000mm. It also offers innovative side zoom controls, a 1/2.3″ Back Side Illuminated CMOS sensor with 18.1 megapixels, an iso sensitivity range of 80 to 6400, and a full 1080p HD video recording with stereo sound and slow-motion video up to 120fps. The Nikon P520 appeals more to keen photographers with a variety of manual shooting modes, burst shooting at seven frames per second, a 99-point autofocus system, 3D shooting mode, built-in GPS, support for an optional Wi-Fi dongle that can instantly transfer images and movies to almost any smart device, and a 3.2-inch 921K dot vari-angle LCD screen.

Nikon COOLPIX P520 Design, Features, and Performance

The Nikon Coolpix P520 menu button is known to access the regular Nikon menu system, which is clear and easy to navigate. Press this while in any shooting mode, and there are three menus, Shooting, Movies, GPS, and Settings, with two menus, Playback, and Settings, available when you view pictures. A significant omission is a near-constant need to use the menu system to adjust ISO speed, white balance, measurement, and AF modes, with at least four keystrokes required to change this frequently used feature.

The Nikon P520 flash must be raised manually, using the button next to the mock pentaprism housing. You can set the flash mode to automatic, automatic with red-eye reduction, charging, slow sync, and rear curtain synchronization via the Up button on multi-controllers, but only when the flash is raised. Since there is no hot-shoe or sync terminal on the Nikon Coolpix P520, and also does not offer wireless TTL flash control, the only way to synchronize an external flashgun with the camera is to attach it optically to the internal unit.

The Nikon smart designer puts a stereo microphone at the top of the camera just behind the flash. The Wind Noise Reduction function is available in the Movies menu. Serves to minimize the noise of wind blowing on the microphone, it is recommended to turn on only when the wind is strong, as it can also make other sounds difficult to hear. VR switching sensors are not available during movie recording, but you can choose to enable electronic image stabilization.
